During a business trip last year, I became a tourist for half a day before flying to my next city. This is a picture I took standing in the garden, looking at the Dale Chihuly glasshouse. The Garden and Glass exhibition in Seattle, WA is inspiring.
Mastery comes to mind looking at his creations. Dedication. Persistence. Creativity.
As I snapped picture after picture I wondered is that level of mastery still relevant today, outside the realm of art?

Since that time I'm leaning more toward photographer Chase Jarvis' take on careers, professionalism, creative work, and our body of work.
We're all hyphens.
Hyphen, meaning, regardless the level of mastery you reach, in our modern world of work, in order to reach higher and ever higher, we've got to grow and expand. Adding on to our core skill (read Chase's take here; and here is another take on it from me).
How will you hyphen?
