Growth

In an earlier post, I wrote about masterminds and how they can supercharge your growth.
In this post, I will dig deeper into the growth areas Ann McNeill's group, International Mastermind Association (IMA) focuses on.
If you are just getting started with personal growth and development, but wonder where to actually start, keep reading.
Here is Ann's list:
Spiritual
Family
Financial
Health
Educational
Personal
Business/Career
Recreational
Civic
Creativity
What a List
I remember the first time I saw the list and felt overwhelmed. Others I spoke to in the group (at the time - this is several years ago), felt the same.
Years have past. Now working with Coach Jay Forte of The Greatness Zone, and his assessment covers the same categories, save one or two.
The thing about the growth areas is that, they aren't overwhelming and when you execute something that sits in one category, that one thing, may also satisfy another category.
Furthermore, the growth, does not have to be creating world peace. Small steps forward in a category is still growth. You add up enough small steps over time and you've walked across the country.
Top Three Growth Areas to Focus On
My take on the key areas from the full list of ten growth areas:
Spiritual
When I first learned of IMA this growth area challenged me. I don't necessarily see The Universe strictly through the lens of Judeo-Christianity. When my personal life changed relating to spiritual I better understood.
What spiritual/spirituality/religious practice do you resonate with? What do you practice as a believer of that teaching when gathering with fellow believers?
What ever THAT is, grow in it. Practice it fully. It helps ground you.
Health
No matter what we desire to accomplish in life, without health it will not happen. I've had friends and family members that dealt with migraines and chronic back pain.
Debilitating pain that leaves them bedridden, sometimes for weeks.
Any personal growth and development process must include better health.
Education
At my Medium blog (where I can write long-form posts guilt-free) I asked the question Is a College Degree Relevant to Becoming a Well-Known Published Writer?
I used to think so. And for the growth area of education, I once thought that meant I needed to return to university.
The truth. Education happens every day in countless ways for all of us.
I believe, the trick is to take advantage of the democratization of education. Exploit it. Learn whatever you want, whenever you want, from whomever you want, however you want.
Technology makes that possible in our modern world.
If you are just getting started with personal growth and development, but wonder where to actually start, use this list of ten. If the list feels a bit heavy, start with the three I expounded on.
The key.
Start.
