I struggle with the possibilities of the noble side of who I could be, versus my actual every day self. The person my friends, family, co-workers and strangers interact with.
Often, the person I wish people to know, is the person they hear about when they read my obituary or hear my eulogy.
As an exercise to help align my life to its noble aspirations, I wrote my obituary years ago. It was such a humble and frightening experience. Many of the things I hopefully wrote of, at the time, had yet to fully manifest in my life.
Updating my eulogy is on my personal projects list.
I think we all know on some intuitive level, striving for the sake of striving, without some cause greater than our egos and money is an empty race. I believe, we all wish our most noble selves presented in the world daily - versus the basal representation of our souls and spirits, that typically inhabit the world and our lives.
Let's work toward that version of ourselves that makes the world a better place for others having come in contact with us. Here is David Brooks take on this topic.
